Many of the top players and projected top teams are scheduled to take part when the annual Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout returns to Concordia University in Mequon in December after a one-year absence due to COVID-19.
The annual event, which attracts top teams and players from throughout Wisconsin, opens with a match-up pairing two potential state-title contenders as Lake Country Lutheran takes on Sheboygan Lutheran at 10:00 a.m. on December 28.
Lake Country Lutheran returns the core of its line-up from last year's club that finished second at the WIAA Division 3 State Tournament, while Sheboygan Lutheran boasts an experienced returning cast from a club that lost to eventual WIAA Division 4 state-champion Lourdes Academy in a sectional final.
Other potential Top 10 teams in their respective divisions slated to take part include Arrowhead, Brookfield Central, Brookfield East, De Pere and Menomonee Falls in Division 1; Ashwaubenon, De Forest, Onalaska and Wisconsin Lutheran in Division 2; Catholic Memorial, Lake Country Lutheran, Martin Luther and Xavier in Division 3; Cuba City, St. Mary's Springs, Sheboygan Lutheran and The Prairie School in Division 4; Columbus Catholic and Newman Catholic in Division 5.
Top individuals slated to participate include North Carolina recruit Seth Trimble and senior wing Steven Clary of Menomonee Falls; Jeff Brazziel and Demerius Shakur of Martin Luther; Amari McCotttry of St. Thomas More; Andrew Rohde of Brookfield Central; Colin Hardrick of Wauwatosa West; Max Weisbrod of De Forest; Marcus Tomashek of Ashwaubenon; Luke Haertle of Lake Country Lutheran; Dan Gherezgher and Matt Schmainda of Brookfield East; Casey Verhagen of Sheboygan Lutheran; Carter Olson and Max Lucey of Cuba City; Jake Fisher and Logan Arndt of Oconomowoc; Prentice Young, Landon Key and Kon Knueppel of Wisconsin Lutheran; Mac Wrecke of Arrowhead; John Kinziger of De Pere; Riley Brooks of Ripon; Ashe Ogelsby of The Prairie School; Alex Sherwood of Xavier; and Antwan Jones, Braden McGlothlin and Bennett McCormick of Catholic Memorial.
