Pool E vs. Pool F Championship Game – Green Bay Southwest 49, Royall 28.

Most Valuable Player

Aaron Moesch, 6-7, Sr., WF, Green Bay Southwest

Despite playing 20 games in 12 days, Moesch stepped up and gave the Trojans some big-time performances on Saturday and Sunday. The highly coveted NCAA Division II prospect was able to score off the dribble, in transition and from the perimeter while also defending and rebounding at a high level. Moesch’s ability to impact a game in so many different ways is what makes him a truly outstanding player.

All-Tournament Team (In alphabetical order)

Andrew Boeder, 6-4, Sr., WG, Oshkosh West

With new coach Jason Fahrney on the sidelines using a couple of contact days, Boeder stepped up and became a terrific leader for the Wildcats. He competed with high energy on both ends of the court, handled the ball against pressure, made three-point shots and also had a highlight-reel dunk in one game. Boeder is a really solid player in all facets of the game.

Danny Christensen, 6-0, Sr., WG, Green Bay Southwest
Christensen is a returning starter for the Trojans and he played big for Southwest all weekend. He was especially effective in a hard-fought 53-47 victory over Oak Creek, scoring 13 points to help the Trojans move into a tie for first place in Pool E.

Carlin Dupree, 6-3, Sr., PG, Milwaukee Bay View
Talented, athletic and long, Dupree has the size and skill package to play at the highest level of college basketball. He may need another year of seasoning beyond high school to put everything together, but there is no denying his immense talent and potential. Loves to compete and can make shots while also consistently finding open teammates.

Brandon Eckford, 6-3, Soph., PF, Milwaukee Bay View
Eckford may not be as flashy as some of his teammates, but his production is consistent and his ability to score from the paint and away from the basket was impressive. He runs the floor, rebounds and scores, traits that will undoubtedly help coach Tyler Podall and the Redcats in 2012-13.

Terrence Garner, 6-4, Sr., WG, Oak Creek
After a slow start, Garner picked up his game and played at an extremely high level for Oak Creek. He made three-point shots, scored off of drives to the basket, got to the foul line and defended with a purpose. His skill package, size and length make him a very attractive player for the next level and he more than played up to his vast potential in Plymouth.

Eric Frye, 6-0, Sr., WG, Royall
Frye has made tremendous improvements to his game over the past three seasons and teams with his twin brother, Cory, on top of Royall’s zone defense. The quickness, aggressiveness and strength of both Frye brothers on top of the zone makes things extremely difficult for opponents. Eric Frye also scored at a high level in Plymouth, reaching double figures in some of the games.

Alex Medenwalt, 5-10, Soph., PG/WG, Oak Creek
Medenwalt finds a way to the basket and may have been the best player in the entire tournament at drawing fouls en route to the hoop. He doesn’t have great size or athletic ability, but his gym-rat mentality and ability to produce on a consistent basis are both highly impressive.

Luke Millhouse, 6-0, Sr., WG, Westosha Central
Millhouse teamed with seniors Tyler Stoxen (6-1) and David Finnemore (6-0) to give coach Dave Sjong an outstanding backcourt combination. Millhouse was the top offensive option for Westosha Central and he responded by nailing three-pointers all weekend long.

Turner Moen, 6-2, Jr., PG, Lake Mills
A terrific athlete with good strength and basketball skill, Moen was impressive in all aspects of the game. He made three-point shots, scored off the dribble, got his teammates involved and defended at a high level. New coach Steve Hicklin has a player he can lean on heavily over the next two years in Moen.

Justin Schweiner, 6-0, Sr., WG, Green Bay Southwest
When senior point guard Jasen Baranowski went down with an injured ankle in Southwest’s second game of the tournament, the Trojans needed players to step up to help offset the loss of Baranowski. Schweiner certainly did his part, knocking down three-point shots, hustling all over the court and making a big impact in the Trojans’ ability to win four straight games after an opening-game loss to Milwaukee Bay View.

Team Champion

Green Bay Southwest
Coach Chris Karcz has to be excited for the season to get underway as he has an extremely talented lineup led by one of the state’s premier players in Moesch. Baranowski, Schweiner and Christensen team with Moesch to give Southwest plenty of experience and skill while seniors Nathan Paup (6-5) and Eric Demro (5-10) figure to provide some quality depth. Southwest went 9-1 in two WBY tournaments this summer and has shown it has the talent, toughness and tenacity to challenge De Pere, Bay Port, Manitowoc Lincoln, Ashwaubenon and Pulaski for the top spot in the Fox River Classic Conference.

Notes
There is an awful lot to like about the future of Milwaukee Bay View sophomore Deamontre Freeman (6-3), who showed the ability to play either guard spot while attacking the basket and making some mid-range jump shots … Oak Creek freshman Harrison Cleary (5-7) could very well emerge as one of the elite players in the class of 2016. Cleary played against some top-notch competition and more than held his own, competing with great skill and poise in each and every game  … Oshkosh West junior Eli Stanek (6-3) played well for the Wildcats and figures to be a key player for first-year coach Jason Fahrney … Senior Clay Retzlaff (6-2), senior Sam Murphy (6-4) and senior Nate Scheeter (6-2) all played well for Royall, which figures to have one of the top Division 5 teams in Wisconsin in 2012-13 … Once again, Marathon senior Collin Seubert (6-2) shot the ball extremely well and played at a high level for the Red Raiders. Seubert is an excellent three-point shooter, but he can also handle the ball against pressure, defend and rebound … Junior Alex Manhardt (6-4) and senior Landon Diel (5-11) had some outstanding moments for West Bend East and could emerge as leaders for coach Ryan Tomczyk … Sheboygan Falls played without junior Matt Wilke (5-11), but got some solid production from senior Jacob Ten Pas (6-2). The Falcons finished 0-4 in the event, but were highly competitive in most of their games.
