Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook

The second Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Exposure Camp of the summer concluded Tuesday at Viterbo University in La Crosse. Following are some end-of-the-camp news and notes.

Players at the WBY Camp were divided into 12 different teams. Following are the MVPs for each of the teams at camp as selected by the camp coaches:

Riley Bambenek, 6-3, PG, Jr., Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau
A definite scholarship level player due to his combination of skill, size and athleticism … Knows how to run a team and communicates exceptionally well with his teammates … Made shots off the dribble and knocked down three-pointers as well … Defends with energy and hits the glass on both ends of the court … First-team all-league choice in the Coulee Conference as a sophomore.

Noah Baryenbruch, 6-0, PG, Sr., River Valley
Had a hard time finding the bottom of the net during the first day of camp, but really picked it up on the final two days and was definitely one of the elite point-guard prospects at the event … Gets into the heart of the defense and finishes or finds teammates … Played with passion and desire on both ends of the court for all three days of camp … First-team all-league pick as a sophomore and junior in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference … Brother, Jacob, played college basketball at Drake.

Luke Collom, 6-5, WF, Sr., Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau
Without a doubt, one of the most versatile and skilled big men in the camp … Scored from the perimeter, off aggressive drives to the hoop and on unblockable jump hook shots … Good athlete with excellent strength and skill … Runs the floor, gets on the ground and works at blocking out and rebounding … Earned first-team all-league honors in the Coulee Conference as a junior.

Brian Lindbloom, 6-5, F, Sr., Spooner
Bouncy forward prospect who made shots facing the basket and in the lane … Ran the floor and filled the lane exceptionally well all three days of camp … Needs to add some weight and strength, but best basketball appears in front of him as he continues to mature and develop his overall skill package … Earned second-team all-league honors in the Heart O’North Conference as a junior.

Dylan Lubeck, 6-3, WF, Sr., Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln
Versatile wing player who made outside shots and also got to the basket off the dribble … Good length and mobility … A willing defender and also an unselfish player on the offensive end of the floor … Stellar student (3.6 gpa, 26 ACT) who earned first-team all-league honors in the Wisconsin Valley Conference as a junior.

Terry Nash, 6-0, PG, Sr., Wisconsin Lutheran
Exceptionally difficult to keep out of the lane because of his superior quickness and ball-handling ability … Got to the basket and finished and was able to make some perimeter jump shots as well … Unselfish player who looks for his teammates and defends … Is working hard to improve his jump shot from beyond the three-point arc … Earned second-team all-league honors in the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference as a junior.

Alex Olson, 6-1, WG, Sr., Brookfield Central
Competes with an edge on both ends of the court … Made perimeter shots and also used his strength, aggressiveness and quickness to get to the hoop and finish … Used toughness and lateral quickness to keep opponents away from the basket … Never seemed to run out of energy or mental toughness … Earned honorable mention all-league honors in the Greater Metro Conference as a junior.

Alex Richard, 6-4, WF, Sr., River Valley
Outstanding player in virtually every aspect of the game … Makes outside shots, puts it on the floor and scores in traffic, rebounds, defends and gets on the floor … A glue-guy for every team he competes on because of his willingness to do all the small things that help his teams win … Strong student (3.8 gpa) who teams with Noah Baryenbruch to give River Vally an outstanding one-two scoring punch … Earned first-team all-league honors in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference as a junior.

Cody Risseeuw, 6-5, WG, Soph., Clinton
One of the top prospects in Wisconsin in the class of 2013 … Competitive wing player who can knock down mid-range jump shots or get to the basket and finish … Physically mature body for such a young player … Outstanding ball handler who also elevates nicely on his jump shot … Earned first-team all-league honors in the Rock Valley South as a freshman and figures to be a player to watch for NCAA Division I schools over the next three seasons.

Andrew Schwoerer, 6-4, F, Sr., Valders
One of the most complete and steady performers in camp … Got the job done offensively and defensively throughout the three days of camp … Can score in a variety of ways, including hitting mid-range jump shots, off of offensive rebounds and with his back to the basket … Uses physical strength and size to keep opponents off the glass … First-team all-league choice in the Olympian Conference as a junior.

Tyler Stoxen, 6-0, PG, Soph., Westosha Central
One of the definite surprises among the 116 players in camp … Smooth, skilled and intelligent lead guard who can make plays for himself and his teammates … Physical strength allows him to get into the lane for scoring opportunities … Saw action off the bench for the varsity squad at Westosha Central as a freshman.

Alex Wuensch, 6-2, PG, Jr., La Crosse Central
Outstanding guard prospect who consistently made plays on both ends of the court … Competes with a high-energy level and uses physical strength and athleticism to get into the lane and create scoring opportunities for his teammates … Rebounds, defends, make shots and gets on the floor for loose balls … Saw action off the bench for a senior-dominated Central team a year ago, but figures to be a go-to player for the Red Raiders over the next two seasons.

The three-on-three tournament was held at camp on Tuesday and the team of Alex Richard of River Valley, Brian Kampstra of Randolph, Jordan Stroede of Winnebago Lutheran and Jacob Borgardt of Cedarburg won the championship.

The three-point shooting contest was won by sophomore Kristopher Seffrood of Lodi. Seffrood made 15 of 20 shots from beyond the arc and at one point made 13 in a row.

Tanner Plomb, a promising 6-6 junior from East Troy, won the slam dunk competition.
